The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan (TLDS UI), is set to kick off its annual debating competition, Jaw War 2026, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
This year’s edition, themed “Africa and the Burden of Tomorrow: Power, Identity and the Future of Freedom,” will examine the state of Nigeria and the African continent amid the global political and cultural shifts shaping contemporary society.

Marking the opening ceremony, the Interhall first-leg fixtures will see Kenneth Mellanby Hall face Obafemi Awolowo Hall, while Sultan Bello Hall takes on Alexander Brown Hall.

Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall will face Ransome Kuti Hall, Independence Hall will battle Queen Idia Hall, while Lord Tedder Hall will take on Queen Elizabeth II Hall.
