The University of Ibadan has introduced a new guideline governing the collection of statements of results and certificates by graduates.

This was made known in a special release signed by the University Registrar, G. O Saliu on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

According to the release, Graduates are required to collect their Statement of Results (SOR) within six (6) months from the date they are notified that the documents are ready for collection.

“Any graduates who fail to collect his or her Statement of Results within the stipulated period shall be required to pay a non-collection penalty of N2,500 before the document can be released.” the notice reads.

The university also stated that a Statement of Result will remain valid for two years from the date of issuance.

It described the document as an interim document pending the collection of the certificate, which remains the University’s official and permanent evidence of graduation and qualification.

The release also states that the inscription, “Valid for Two (2) Years from the Date of Issuance” shall appear on the Statement of Result

“The certificates will be available for collection from the date of Convocation Ceremony for up to one year, subject to payment of the prescribed statutory certificate issuance and collection fee of N7,500” the release added.

“Graduates who fail to collect their certificates within the initial one-year period will be subject to additional non-collection penalties”.

The University also noted that under the new guidelines, graduates collecting their certificates after one year but not exceeding five years will pay ₦25,000, while those collecting after five years but not exceeding ten years will pay ₦50,000.

The University added that certificates that remain uncollected beyond ten years will be liable to be shredded.

The release clarified that the prescribed non-collection penalties are separate from and do not include the statutory ₦7,500 fee approved by the University for the issuance and collection of certificates.

The University further advised all graduates and relevant stakeholders to take note of the new guidelines and comply accordingly.
