The Great Independence Hall of Residence has nominated 3 student residents to join the Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission (KRIEC) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Congress held at the Indy hall quadrangle on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, saw the election of three Katangites to join the Electoral Commission out of 7 nominees.
The nominated individual includes Akinola Al-amen with 36 votes, Fakunle Abubakri with 30 votes, and Abdulhakeem Abdulrahman with 29 votes.
The nomination was done as constitutionally mandated ahead of the forthcoming Indy hall election.
According to the hall’s constitution, under article 8, Section 1, “There shall be an Independent Electoral Commission known as Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission (KRIEC), to be constituted by the Hall Assembly.”
“The Electoral Commission shall consist of 7 members in the order of: 4 members from the Hall 3 members from the Congress and 1 member from the Hall Press Organization.” it added.
