Student Leaders Empowerment Programme, eLEAP 2021, Opens for Application

A student leaders empowerment programme, titled the 2021 Excellence in Leadership Program (eLEAP 2021), has been scheduled to hold between Friday, 23rd April and Saturday, 24th April, 2021. The event, which is championed by the John Oluwadero-led Building Nations Initiative, is a capacity-building workshop for student leaders at the faculties, departments, halls of residence, and the Student’s Union of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The 2-day event, which will hold virtually on Zoom and the Building Nations Initiative online platform, has Leading through Uncertainty: Advancing Students Welfare and Campus Leadership as its theme. The speakers at the event are: Oluwatobi Ojo, Founder of Scholarpreneurs and Head of Educational Testing Consultancy at Global School Africa; John Adeleke, JCIN UI FOPA Most Outstanding in Student Leadership and a 2019 eLEAP Alumnus; Dr. Hillary Briffa, erstwhile Maltan Youth Ambassador to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe and the Literacy Read for the Royal Commonwealth Society; Olalekan Sipasi, Graduate Research Assistant at the Kansas State University and Founder of ProjectOzone Sustainable Livelihood Initaitive; Femi Babatunde, Associate Judge at the Diamond Awards for Media Excellence and Advisor to the Sustainable Futures in Africa team; and John Oluwadero, 2018 Honoree of the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons in Nigeria National Award and the President of Building Nations Initiative.

The student leaders empowerment programme is scheduled to have six sessions: My eLEAP Experience to be delivered by John Adeleke; Leading Through Uncertainty to be handled by Olalekan Sipasi, Strengthening Campus Leadership in a post-COVID Education System to be delivered by John Oluwadero; Dr. Hillary Briffa’s Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19 on Higher Education, and Femi Babatunde’s Community Organising for Students’ Welfare and Equity, with an Interactive Session to round off the event.

Following the eLEAP 2021 event, participants will be mentored, with their progress closely monitored by Building Nations Initiative. Through the Excellence in Leadership Program, the Initiative does not only seek to empower student leaders, but also monitor their progress and ensure that they are making great decisions as better-equipped and empowered leaders.

The eLEAP 2021 is a free capacity-building event open to student leaders across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. Interested student leaders are to apply for the programme through the registration link. The deadline for the submission of application is Thursday, 22nd of April, 2021.
