The turnout across the Postgraduate Halls of Residence in the ongoing 2025/2026 University of Ibadan Students’ Union election has been notably low.
IndyPress observed that the postgraduate halls recorded the lowest number of votes on the portal, despite having about 7,844 students, according to the University’s statistics as stated in a special release in April 2026.
Checks by IndyPress of 34 minutes to the end of thr election revealed that, AbdulSalami Abubakar Hall had recorded 169 votes, Adetoun Ogunseye Hall had 8 vote, Alumni PG Hall and Olatunde Runsewe also had 1 vote each, Ayodele Falase PG Hall had 12 votes, while Tafawa Balewa Hall had just 9 votes.
This low performance points to a high level of apathy in students’ unionism among postgraduate students at the University of Ibadan.
