The Indy Hall at 60 celebrations have been scheduled to hold on August 28, 2021, in commemoration of Independence Hall’s sixtieth year of existence. According to details disclosed by the incumbent Administrator-General of the Hall, Olaogun Temitope, the event will be held physically in the Independence Hall, during the second semester.
The Administator-General also said that the hall administration has been working with the Alumni Association to ensure that the event is bubbly and grand. Plans are underway to entertain Katangites; all University of Ibadan Principal Officers; erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abel Olayinka; Indy Hall Management officials; all past Administrators-General, and the Independence Hall Alumni Association.
The activities lined up for the Indy at 60 celebrations include Common Pot, a celebratory match between the Independence Hall Alumni Association and Katangites, plegdes for Indy at 60 projects, and lots more. Pastor Silas Ajimijaye, the Chairman of the Independence Hall Alumni Association and the Hall’s Alumni body have pledged support to the hall administration for the success of the Indy at 60 celebrations.
Recall that Independence Hall was officially commissioned on September 21, 1961, in commemoration of Nigeria’s Independence from colonial rule. The Hall has since remained one of University of Ibadan’s largest and strongest halls of residence.
