Fee Hike: UISU Congress Suspends Election

Election processes and activities ahead of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union earlier scheduled election have all been suspended by a congress of the Students’ Union.
The congress of the Union, held at the SUB Foyer, being a general meeting of students, and the highest decision-making organ of the Union, on Tuesday, 16th April, 2024, resolved that ‘the Students’ Union election be suspended till all issues surrounding the fees increment is resolved’.
Other resolutions resolved at, at the congress included that ‘the Union should embark on an online campaign to bring attention of the world to what is happening in the University; the Union should clearly state her stands (NO TO FEE INCREMENT) on the issue, using all available platforms, including a press conference’, among others.
Also, considering the current state of the Nigerian economy, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union has firmly counselled fresh students, who recently gained admission into the University, to refrain from making payment of any fee until further notice.
