The University of Ibadan Students’ Union on Friday, June 28, 2024, postponed the Congress scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024.

The decision was announced through a release signed by the Students’ Union President, Bolaji Aweda, addressed to the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

The President of the Students’ Union, Bolaji Aweda tendered his apology, while acknowledging that the Students’ Representative Council was not informed in advance.

He explained that the postponement was due to the inability of both himself and the Vice President, Aboderin Nafisat to preside over the Congress.

“I am writing to tender my unreserved apology for the postponement of the Congress without informing the Honourable members of the SRC,” the letter reads.

“The postponement of the congress is due to the inability of myself and the Vice President to preside over the congress,” the letter added.

The letter further cited the Union’s inauguration oath, emphasizing the President’s responsibility for any actions taken by himself or on his behalf.

I sincerely apologize for this and hope that we can come to another resolution on a new date for the Congress,” the letter concluded.
