The match between Philosophy and Elect-Elect which held today, 2nd of August, 2024, evenly paced for the first 15 minutes. However, the dynamics changed when Philosophy started to dominate possession but failed to capitalize on several chances
The pivotal moment arrived shortly before halftime when John unleashed a remarkable long-range strike from midfield, propelling Philosophy into a 1-0 lead.
The second half saw Elect-Elect mounting relentless pressure in pursuit of an equalizer. Despite their concerted efforts, Philosophy’s defense held firm, frustrating their opponents with resolute resilience.
As the match neared its conclusion, Philosophy seemed content to defend their slender advantage. However, in a dramatic twist, Ebenezer’s late goal from a corner kick shattered Elect-Elect’s hope of salvaging a draw.
Speaking to Indypress, Ebenezer, a player of Philosophy, explained his team’s 2.0 victory over Elect-Elect brought mixed feelings.
He acknowledged that bouncing back with a win was crucial for the team, especially after their earlier defeat to Veterinary in the tournament opener.
“ Today’s win is a mixed feeling for me.Considering our first match, we really played well but were so unlucky,” he said
“I feel today is the reward of the hard work we have been doing in our training, it is a collective effort from the team,” he added
In Group A standing, Statistics leads the table with four points, followed closely by Philosophy, who edge Veterinary on a goal difference despite both teams sharing the same points(3points).
Meanwhile, the Department of Elect-Elect languishes at the bottom with a one point to their name.
