The Student Union President, Adeboye Temidayo Sewanu (Deboye), has declared the union neutrality on the 13th Assembly’s Legislative Summit (Odidiomo Summit) and warned students from attending programme.
This was contained in a notice signed by the SU President on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
He stated that the union had taken note of the programme but had not authorised any representation of the Students’ Union at the event.
“Following the concerns and uncertainties surrounding the programme, the Union wishes to clearly state that it dissociates itself from the event and has not authorised any representation of the Students’ Union at the programme,” the notice stated.
It is also worth noting that the Students’ Legislative Summit is scheduled to be held at the International Conference Center, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, September 22, and Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Deboye also disclosed that the University Management had not endorsed the event, adding that no representative of the University Management would be present at the programme.
According to him, the Students’ Union was unable to assure students of the intentions, structure, and implications of the summit.
The SU President consequently advised students to exercise caution and refrain from attending or participating in the program, stressing that the event was not a representation of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union.
He reaffirmed the union commitment to protecting the welfare, dignity, and safety of students, noting that the notice became necessary because of concerns surrounding the programme.
“We urge all students to take this notice seriously and exercise appropriate caution,” the he added.
