Firefighters from the University’s Fire Service successfully extinguished a fire that broke out in Queen Elizabeth Hall, Block B, around midnight on December 5, 2024, IndyPress can report.
The blaze was fully contained by 2:30 am. The incident has been described as ‘unexpected’ by student-residents of the hall.
IndyPress observed the presence of residents of neighbouring halls at the scene.
“They (students from other halls) actually arrived promptly at the scene and actually started to try to put out the fire,” an eyewitness said.
Although the fire has been successfully brought under control by the fire service, numerous students, as of the time of this report, were gathered both within and outside of the hall.
The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown, as earlier reported.
Also, there has been no official comment by concerned authorities on the incident.
