The Philosophy male football team clinched another SEALS CUP title after defeating Dentistry 1–0 earlier today, Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The final was tightly contested, but Plato Academy (the Philosophy team) emerged victorious thanks to a first-half strike from Philosophy’s No. 6, Hassan. The midfielder unleashed a long-range effort that the Dentistry goalkeeper struggled to keep out.
Although Dentistry displayed impressive attacking play throughout the encounter, the Plato Academy defence remained resolute and largely kept them in check. Despite flashes of brilliance from the Dentistry side, they were unable to find the back of the net as Philosophy held on to their first-half lead to secure the trophy.
With this victory, Philosophy has now won two SEALS CUP titles in four years, having previously lifted the trophy in 2023.
It is also noteworthy that this was Dentistry’s debut appearance in the competition, making their run to the final a commendable achievement.
In the third-place match, Computing defeated MBBS 2–1 to finish third in the male category.
Meanwhile, ASSE defeated MBBS 2–0 to win the female category of the SEALS CUP ’26. Goals in each half ensured ASSE denied MBBS the gold medal.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, several players and officials were recognised for their outstanding performances.

At the end of the tournament, several individuals were recognised for their outstanding performances in the SEALS CUP ’26 male category. Silas Divine Ebube of Philosophy, was named Best Coach, while Felix Owen emerged as the Best Player of the tournament.
Akinwunmi Ifeoluwa also received the Best Goalkeeper award, and Falade David was named Rookie of the Year. The Golden Boot award went to Busari Malik for his goalscoring exploits during the competition.
In the final standings of the male category, Philosophy emerged champions after defeating Dentistry in the final, while Dentistry finished in second place. Computing secured third position after defeating MBBS in the third-place match.
It was ultimately a disappointing outing for the College of Medicine sides, with MBBS unable to defend the title they won in the previous edition.
