‘We Have CCTV Cameras, But They Are Not Working’ — Independence Hall Warden

By Blessing Alalade

The Hall Warden of Great Independence Hall, Dr. Solomon Adekunle Odedokun, has confirmed that the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras installed in the hall are currently not functional.

Dr. Odedokun made the disclosure during the hall’s town hall meeting held on Monday, July 27, 2026, while responding to a resident’s concern over the increasing cases of clothing theft in the hall.

The resident, who spoke anonymously, asked whether the CCTV cameras were operational and capable of identifying those responsible for the reported thefts.

Responding, the hall warden acknowledged that although CCTV cameras had been installed in the hall, they were not currently working.

“We have CCTV here, but they are not working. Do not worry; within the next four weeks, everything will be sorted,” he assured residents.

Residents are advised to refrain from jungle justice in case a culprit is found.
