One Month Later: John Oludele-led SRC Yet to Declare Council’s Neutrality After Unconstitutional Induction of APM Politician Odidiomo, N50m Graft

Over a month after the University of Ibadan Students’ Representative Council (UI SRC), led by Rt. Hon. Oludele John, resolved to issue an official memorandum declaring the Students’ Union’s neutrality from political affiliations, the council is yet to release the statement.

Recall that in July, Indypress reported how the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludele John, alongside his associates, unilaterally inducted Hon. Adedeji Stanley Olajide, popularly known as Hon. Odidiomo, into the UI SRC.

Following matters arising from council’s second emergency sitting held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, the Assembly resolved to issue a memorandum on the political neutrality of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union.

Despite the resolution, the Oludele-led 13th Assembly is yet to issue the promised memorandum declaring the Union’s neutrality as of the time of filing this report.

Till the time of this publication, none of the Council members have objected to the inaction.

The delay raises concerns on implementation of the resolutions passed by the Council, alleged political alliance and proper representation of Students’ Union interests.
