IndyPress Partners AFAS Press to Launch The Platform, a Strategic Space for Intellectual Discourse

Ibadan, Nigeria September 30, 2026 — IndyPress UI, the University of Ibadan’s foremost independent campus press organisation, has announced a strategic partnership with AFAS Press to facilitate political discourse and intellectual engagement, particularly within the student community.

The partnership comes amid a growing demand for spaces where students can engage in intellectual discourse and discuss issues affecting them.

Under the partnership, IndyPress, in collaboration with AFAS Press, will host X Spaces under the program, The Platform.

The initiative aims to drive political consciousness among students, providing an opportunity to hear from aspirants, ask questions, and engage them on issues affecting the student community.

“The Platform is that space where students come together to discuss important issues affecting their well-being on campus and trending matters that need attention. These matters cut across politics, welfarism, and pressing issues,” Gbayesola Samuel, IndyPress Editor-in-Chief said.

“Working with AFAS Press on this initiative is a strategic one since we share a similar vision and goal in mind,” he added.

“The Platform operates with the immediacy of a live radio broadcast, giving students the room to speak, ask questions, and hold governance accountable in real time. Campus politics directly impacts student welfare. By leveraging X Spaces, we are not only amplifying student voices across universities, but we are also deepening campus journalism through direct, unvarnished dialogue,” Oluseun Fatope, AFAS Press Editor-in-Chief, said.

“AFAS Press is delighted to partner with IndyPress in bringing this shared vision to life. While written journalism remains the bedrock of our reportage, critical campus discourse should not be confined solely to text on a screen,” he added.
