The rain that fell on Monday, October 5, at the University of Ibadan has exposed the deteriorating state of the Faculty of Agriculture Large Lecture Theatre (LLT), where a leaking roof continues to threaten the facility and could cause further damage if left unattended.
An IndyPress correspondent who sought shelter in the classroom during the breezy downpour earlier today observed that water leaking through the roof of the classroom trickled down the wall where the white marker board was hung.
A careful look at the venue showed that parts of the whiteboard, which should serve teaching and learning purposes, had been darkened and rusted by the unprevented rainwater.
The platform, where lecturers should stand during lectures, also, was partly filled with water, which could cause a slip for anyone who loses balance. The wall of the classroom was dented by water stains, which defaced its original appearance.

IndyPress correspondent observed that one of the two main ceiling fans located on the podium appeared rusty as rainwater trickled through it into the lecture classroom.

At the left side of the same classroom, on the podium, a black notice board had become partly rotten, resulting from the continued impact of the leaking roof.

It is worth noting that the lecture theatre was commissioned after a renovation exercise carried out by the 2002 graduating set in September 2022.

Concerned, the continued neglect of the state of the Faculty of Agriculture LLT, which is believed to be amendable, may worsen if unattended.
