Four months after the University of Ibadan Students Union Assistant General Secretary, Fidelia Eseile’s was referred to the SRC Disciplinary Committee following alleged financial misappropriation linked to the Freshers’ Week budget, the council has yet to announce the outcome of the investigation into the matter.
Recall that Fidelia was referred to the SRC Disciplinary Committee following financial discrepancies discovered in the review of the 2026 Freshers’ Week expenditures by SRC Audit committee on Friday, May 8, 2026.
The lack of resolution on the matter comes amid previous accountability concerns within the Union.
Recall that during the last administration, there was also an accountability issue involving the former Assistant General Secretary, Emmanuel Olawoye which was later resolved by the Council’s Disciplinary Committee.
In an interview with IndyPress on August 27 and 28, 2026, the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Oduola Peter, stated that the investigation was still ongoing and that all quarters would be informed upon its conclusion.
“Investigation is still ongoing. But as soon as we conclude all the investigation, we will inform all quarters appropriately,” he stated.
However, from the time of the interview to the publication of this report, the Council has not publicly announced the outcome of the investigation.
The continued lack of a publicly announced resolution leaves questions about the timeline for concluding the disciplinary process and communicating its outcome to students.
