The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Council (JCC), Lagos State, has declared its solidarity with three students of the University of Ibadan popularly referred to as the UI 3, while demanding their immediate and unconditional reinstatement.
This was disclosed in an official press statement co-signed by the NANS JCC Lagos Chairman, Ridwan Ajayi; Secretary, Kareem Mumini, and announced by the Public Relations Officer, Aloba Ahmod on Monday, April 13, 2026.
According to the statement, the council expressed support for Mide Gbadegesin, Aduwo Ayodele, and Nice Linus, ahead of the final hearing of their case against the university scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
“We extend solidarity with the 3 victimised students of the University of Ibadan, Mide Gbadegesin (700-level, Institute of African Studies); Aduwo Ayodele (400-level, History); and Nice Linus (300-level, Faculty of Law), as they appear in court on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, for the final hearing of their case against the University of Ibadan,” the NANS JCC Lagos wrote.
It further urged the university management to reinstate the affected students without conditions.
“We call for their immediate and unconditional reinstatement by the Management of the University of Ibadan,” the statement added.
Recall that Mide Gbadegesin and Aduwo Ayodele were rusticated for four semesters following their participation in a protest during a students’ union swearing-in ceremony in 2024, where placards bearing the inscription “Fees Must Fall” were displayed.
Nice Linus, who was also involved in the protest, later lost her elected position as a legislator in the Student Representative Council.
Reaffirming its position, the council stated that the affected students were not alone in their demand for reinstatement.
“The ‘UI 3’ should rest assured that they are not alone in this battle as we stand in solidarity with them in the struggle for their reinstatement,” it added.
