IAS UI, ADRRC to Host Roundtable on Yoruba Spirituality and Contemporary Art

The African Diaspora Resource and Research Centre (ADRRC), in collaboration with the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, is set to host an interdisciplinary roundtable conversation exploring Yoruba spiritual epistemologies, contemporary artistic practices, and speculative futures across Africa and the diaspora.

The program, titled “Sacred Aesthetics and African Futures: Yoruba Spirituality and Contemporary Art,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10 AM at Lady Bank Anthony Hall, University of Ibadan.

According to the organizers, the event will bring together scholars, artists, cultural practitioners, and students to engage in conversations at the intersection of Yoruba spiritual knowledge systems, contemporary artistic practice, and academic inquiry.

Panelists of the event include Dr. Samuel Ajose of the Department of Music, University of Ibadan, and Akeem Ashiyanbi of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.

Other activities scheduled for the roundtable include artist-scholar dialogues, audience engagement sessions, interdisciplinary exchanges, and academic resource-sharing.
