As the angelic sound of the UEFA Champions League anthem will boom across the stadiums in Dortmund and Turin, the stars are expected to come out and shine. Dortmund welcome Sevilla at the Signal Iduna Park while Juventus look to trade tackles with FC Porto for the second leg of this season’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16. How will things play out? Let’s roll the dice!
Dortmund and Sevilla
Dortmund take a 3-2 advantage 3-2 advantage to their home ground and would look to capitalise on that except that of course Sevilla Would also be looking to pull the chestnut out of the fire. It’s more of contrasting fortunes for both sides as Borrusia Dortmund have won four of their last five fixtures but are coming on the back of a loss to league rivals Bayern Munich. While Sevilla have lost 4 of their last five fixtures.
Borrusia Dortmund have a few injury concerns with midfielder Axel Witsel and defender Marcel schmelzer ruled out while also sweating over the fitness of Jadon Sancho, Giovanni Reyna and Raphael Guerrreiro. As for Sevilla, right back Aleix Vidal has been ruled out with a hamstring.
Despite the loss of form Sevilla can still hope for the best as they boast of a good away record in the Champions League this season with 2 wins and a draw although Dortmund have mirrored the same record at home. The last time Sevilla visited Dortmund they won by a solitary goal but with a Halland on rampage it’s hard not see Dortmund conceeding tonight.
My pick? A 3-2 win for Dortmund against Sevilla.
Juventus and FC Porto
On a night where Juventus need nothing short of a comfortable win Christiano Ronaldo would once again look to affirm his status as the GOAT. Juventus come into this tie on the back of a shocking away defeat at the Dragao and would look to put in their all to overturn the deficit.
Juventus have shaken off a poor start to the season and look like a side in form even without Star man Pablo Dybala. Both sides have been in great form registering 3 wins and a draw apiece in five games.
Juventus have Danilo, Bentacur, De ligt and Dybala ruled out with niggling injuries while Porto defenders Pepe and Mbemba will remain sidelined. Juventus boast of great quality in Chiesa, Bernadeschi, and of course Christiano Ronaldo who was given a rest in their last league match against Lazio.
While FC Porto have a good team its left to be seen if they would be able to withstand the fire power from Juventus. History also favours Juventus because FC Porto have been defeated the last two times they visited the old lady. History also favours Cristiano Ronaldo to turn on the screws in this one as he boasts of a healthy scoring record in the knockout stages of the Champions League
My prediction? 4-1 in Juventus’ favour, with Ronaldo netting a hat-trick.
