The University of Lagos Engineering Society has opened the application portal for the 5th edition of the Professor Ayodele Awojobi Design Competition (PAADC 5.0), a free-to-enter product design contest for Nigerian undergraduate students aimed at solving Nigeria’s problems.
The fifth edition, which seeks entries from innovative Nigerian students across all faculties has the theme “Breaking Barriers to Innovation”. According to the University of Ibadan PAADC Lead Representative, John Orioke, “applications are welcome from students in all faculties. The main thing is them using either of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to solve Nigerian problems. Just like it’s stated in the handbook that the primary scope of this year’s edition is Healthcare, Education, Essential Services and Environmental Sustainability. From the scope, we even see that ideas from students in those faculties would be really exciting.”
PAADC 5.0 will receive applications till Sunday, 22 August, 2021. The top five teams from the pool of applicants will then move on to the grand finale, which is scheduled to hold on Saturday, 27 November, 2021. The top three teams will go home with N1 million, N800, 000 and N700, 000 respectively.
Interested teams are advised to download the Information Packet and the Application Handbook for full details on what the kinds of entries the fifth edition seeks, the competition timeline, and the registration process. Interested teams can then proceed to apply here.
University of Ibadan students who have questions or clarifications to make can contact the Campus Lead Representative on WhatsApp.
