Representatives of the Sigma Club, University of Ibadan paid a courtesy visit to the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, on Thursday, 16 September 2021. During the meeting, the monarch officially accepted the club’s invitation to be inducted as an honourary member of the club later this year.
The Obi was also full of encomiums for the high standard of conduct the club has maintained since it was founded in 1950. The team that visited the monarch included the Sigma Chief, Ibraheem Habeeb; Sigma Chief Scribe, Benjamin Babatola, and the Sigma Treasurer, Lucky Eluwa.
Others were a former Chief Scribe of the club and former President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Old Sigmite John Nnia Nwodo; Old Sigmite Okey Eze-Okeke, and Sigma Old Chief Leroy Edozien.
Indy Press recalls that at a press conference earlier this month, the club announced that it would hold its annual conference between 3 December, 2021 and 6 December, 2021.
According to the club’s executives, the three-day event, tagged “Homecoming”, would also feature a walk to create awareness against drug abuse.
