Anthony Emenike, a 200-level student at the Department of Library and Archival Studies and the current Mr Indy, has emerged as the Mr UI for the 2021/2022 Academic Session. This was at the Royal Phoenix, a beauty pageantry which was held at the New Faculty Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Science, on Saturday, 25 September, 2021. The pageantry marked the close of the UI SU Week, and it was organised by the Students’ Union in conjunction with Elegant Global Concepts.
Anthony beat seven other male contestants to the much-coveted Mr UI title. Oshinyemi Promise, a 200-level student at the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, emerged as the new Miss UI, beating nine other female contestants to the title.
The event also saw the Students’ Union give the SU Outstanding Awards to emerging winners. The award winners are as follows:
Outstanding Student PR — The Pot TV; Faculty of the Year — Faculty of Science; Pressman of the Year — Adedeji Oluwasegun; Event of the Year — Music Fiesta; Sportsman of the Year — Lizzysports; Event Host and Hypeman of the Year — MC Twinkle; Faculty President — Jude Nicholas; Outstanding in Academics — Ogunyemi Deborah; Campus Organization of the Year — Junior Chambers International; Moneybag — Magbo Valentine Ikechukwu; Most Creative Writer — Yemi Pen; Freshman of the Year — Pelumi Tobiloba; Politically Inclined Personality — Olusegun Akeju; Most Outstanding Model — Adeoye Adedoyin; Performing Artiste of the Year — Ayomide Akano; Hall Chair of the Year — Ejideka Sebastian; Entrepreneur of the Year — Nas Couture.
