The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has revealed the reason behind the delay, in rewarding runners-up in the contested Mr. and Miss UI pageant, a major feature of the  Freshers’ Welcome Week. 

The revelation was made during the financial report presented by the Assistant  General Secretary of the Students’ Union,  Arinola David to the Students’ Representative Council on Saturday, 12th November. Stating the reason, the Students’ Union President, Adewole Yinka explained that the paucity of funds in the Union’s purse caused the delay in renumerating the winners.

“We already spoke with the winners of the Mr. and Miss UI.” 

“The management hasn’t released the fund and we are waiting on the students (populace)  to pay 90% of their school fees before we can be funded and also get the winners their gifts” the Student Union President, Adewale Adeyinka revealed.
