“It Is Necessary To Upgrade Recruitment Exercises To Electronic Format” – Director Of ITeMS UI

The University of Ibadan, jointly through its Directorate of Information Technology and Media Services (ITeMS) and the Human Resource and Development Division, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 held a session on the operations of its new recruitment portal.

The event held at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan had in audience Heads of Departments, Directors of Institutes and other users.

The ultimate motive of the session aimed at fast tracking recruitment exercises in the University through the effective use of technology.

According to the Registrar of the University, Mr. Ganiyu O. Saliu, the event was organised to take the stakeholders through the University’s Human Resource Management System, which has been established for recruitment purposes.

“Recruitment exercises will henceforth be facilitated electronically in the University of Ibadan for speed and efficiency” the Registrar noted.

Mr. Ganiyu recalled that the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated the need for digitalization in almost all of the University’s deliverables.

The Registrar added that the inclusion of the recruitment portal would not in any way change the procedure of recruitment exercises but will majorly fast-track the tedious aspect of the recruitment processes.

Mr. Saliu also disclosed that the University had earlier on established an e-learning committee, which will in a short while commence the engagement of all relevant stakeholders for a smooth inclusion of e-learning in the institution

The Director of Information Technology and Media Services (ITeMS), Mrs. Abiodun Alao noted that it was important to upgrade recruitment exercises in UI to the electronic format in a bid to make the processes less difficult.

The Acting Deputy Director, Software Development Unit, Directorate of Information Technology and Media Services (ITeMS), Mr. O. Oladele explained the step-by-step processes that the recruitment exercise will involve to the participants.

The event afforded participants at the gathering to ask possible questions on the use of the recruitment portal.
