The Great Independence Hall electoral body, Katanga Republic Independent Electoral Commission (KRIEC), has on Sunday, April 14th, 2024 released the result of its screening exercise, which had been conducted for candidates contesting into executive positions in the hall.

According to the commission’s release, only twelve, out of a total of fourteen intending students’ leaders, were rated qualified.

As seen in the release, the status of an aspirant for the position of the Defence Commissioner, Eniola Sarafa, has been tagged ‘pending’, sequel to a petition received by the electoral body ‘against the said candidate’.

“Concerning the status of an aspirant that is on [pending], the electoral body (KRIEC) received a petition against the said candidate, and to be fair and just, we want to look into the matter. A press statement would be available after our internal investigation” the KRIEC Chairman explained.

Also, the KRIEC Chairman has explained that another aspirant for the position of the Sport Commissioner, Ayodele Samuel, was disqualified by the electoral commission upon his failure to attain the required passmark.

“He was disqualified on the basis that he didn’t meet the benchmark for qualification which is 50%” the KRIEC Chairman noted.
