KRIEC Condemns Threat, Imposes Three Days Of Campaign Suspension On Adeniji Fifehanmi

The Great Independence Hall electoral body, Katanga Republic Electoral Independent commission (KRIEC), on Monday, April15th, 2024, has made known its stance against any form of threats directed to its members.

The commission, through a press release, condemned the actions of one of the candidates vying for the position of the Administrator General of the Hall, Mr. Adeniji Fifehanmi, accused of bullying, physical confrontation and threat directed at the Chairman of the Electoral commission, Samuel Ogumefun.

“We strongly condemn any form of harassment, bullying, or intimidation directed at members of the electoral commission or its chairman. Such actions are intolerable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances” the KRIEC Chairman said.

Sequel to this development, the electoral commission has announced the suspension of Mr. Adeniji Fifehanmi from engaging in any open campaign for three days, which is to commence on April 15th to the 18th.

“Mr. Fifehanmi, is hereby suspended from engaging in open campaign activities for 3 days to
commence on 15 April 2024 and end on 18 April 2024” the KRIEC release noted.

“During this period, Mr. Fifehanmi shall write an
undertaking to desist from engaging in conduct that threatens the safety and security of the electoral process
or undermines democratic values, before, during and after the election” the release added.
