‘Stakeholders’ Tell Students Not to Pay New Regime of Fees, Chooses to Constitute Committee To Review Fees

Tagged ‘stakeholders’, an array of student leaders on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 have urged the University of Ibadan students populace to hold off from paying any of the statutory regime of fee, for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Held at the SRC Chamber, Kunle Adepeju Memorial Students’ Union Building, the ‘stakeholders’ meeting’ was convened to seek ways in a bid to address the fee hike policy, recently introduced to both fresh and returning students at the University of Ibadan.

At its end, the stakeholders resolved that ‘a committee should be constituted to review the fees, an online campaign be held between Thursday, 13th of June to Wednesday, 19th of June, with students’ leaders at hall, faculty and departmental level sensitizing students to hold off from paying the fees’.

Speaking to Indypress, the President of the Students’ Union, Aweda Bolaji, charged all students to conform to the resolution of the student stakeholders.

“My charge to students is that they should please, let’s make this easy for ourselves,” he said.

“The representatives came here to speak the minds of the students and let’s try our possible best to make it easier by obliging to do what we have decided here for the best interest of students” he added.
