The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter Olapegba has highlighted how advancements in technology swiftly bridge the gap between disciplinary boundaries, to foster and enhance unprecedented collaboration across all fields or disciplines.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, during a courtesy visit by a team of engineers and engineering students from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) and the Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Students (SEEES), the Deputy Vice-Chancellor stressed that technology is the catalyst for development, which has transformed the way things operate, particularly through the use of computers.
Emphasizing the distinction between science and technology, Professor Olapegba noted that there is a convergence between the two disciplines, urging researchers to embrace collaboration so as to enhance global well-being.
Engineer John Funso-Adebayo, the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Nigerian Section) stated that the courtesy visit was to seek the collaboration of the University and the participation of its staff and students in the IEEE’s conference scheduled to hold on November 26-28, 2024, at Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, with the theme “Electro Computing Technology for Humanity.”
Engineer John commended the University of Ibadan for its contributions to the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Nigerian Section).
The meeting which held in a hybrid format had the virtual participation of some members of the IEEE, symbolising the University of Ibadan approach to technology.
