The Great Independence Hall has endorsed the candidacies of Abiola Olaniyi, Olaniyan Abdulsamad (Capacity), and Oladipupo Al-Ameen ahead of the 2026 University ofIbadan Students Union Election.
The Congress, held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Indy Hall Cafeteria, marked the official endorsement of Abiola Olaniyi (Paradigm shift) for the position of the President of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, Olaniyan Abdulsamad (Capacity) for the post of the Assistant General Secretary, and Oladipupo Al-Ameen (sport catalyst) for the post of the Sports Secretary.
However, the Congress failed to recognise the candidate for the position of the Union’s Treasurer, Matthew Ogochukwu, a resident of the hall.
Speaking with IndyPress, the Administrator General, Obinelo Folorunsho, said the Congress only endorsed the three capable and competent candidates presented to it.
“We presented the three capable and competent candidates to Katangites and they endorsed them,” he said.
However, he did not disclose why Matthew Ogochukwu was not presented to the congress.
