Ogunrinu Olanshile, a 200 level student of the department of Communication and Language Art, University of Ibadan has emerged second prize winner of a writing essay competition organized by the Kegites Club International.
The essay writing competition tagged ‘U ar Karid’ was an initiative of a group of Kegite members in the United States, famously known as the United States Archivarians.
The Archivarian group is a convergence of members living in the United States, who had spent between fifteen to twenty-five years in the club.
The group, via its Facebook handle, on November 27th had announced a shortlist of winners of the keenly contested competition, while commending all entries.
Giving his comment, Olanshile Ogunrinu, who clinched the second prize award, worth three hundred thousand naira (#300,000) appreciated the Kegites Club National Headquarters, University of Ibadan for giving the platform to be able to participate in the competition, while describing his win as a ‘homecoming success’.
“The competition echoed strongly the basis of the club as being beyond the palmwine but also the spirit of communality and unity among members and even beyond, so, emerging as one of the winners is indeed heartwarming and I appreciate the organizers and the club”.
