UI Students Question Aweda-led Administration On Fee Hike Issue

Students at the ongoing Congress, being held at UI SUB Foyer, have asked why other events besides ‘Congress’ were held in the University during the ten nationwide.

Expressing their worries, students noted that the Union leadership reason for delaying congress was not ‘rational’.

Restating his argument, the Students’ Union President, Aweda Bolaji attributed the delayed Congress to ‘technicalities’ and the national protest which took place earlier in August.

The President commenting on the student loan noted that “the loan would ease the academic burden on students”.

Reacting to a question on the requirement placed on the payment of school before course registration, Aweda said that it has always been a tradition of the University that students pay before they do their course registrations.

The response however have sparked criticism among the students present at the congress.

As at the time of this report, students are still gathered at the Student Union Building, asking questions on issues affecting them.
