The Executive Council of Great Independence Hall at the University of Ibadan has announced a series of ongoing improvements to enhance living conditions for students.

In a special release, the council provided updates on the status of key repairs and replacements affecting water supply, sewage systems, and essential infrastructure.

According to the statement, a total of ten (10) taps have been repaired, significantly easing access to water and reducing long queues that residents had previously endured.

Additionally, the tank capacitor in Block A has been successfully replaced, ensuring the water system in the block continues to function properly.

The council also acknowledged challenges in Block C, where the pumping machine has broken down beyond repair.

“We are aware of the issue with the pumping machine in C Block, which is beyond repair. We are working closely with the hall management to acquire a new one before the end of the week,” the release reads.

In response, they are collaborating with hall management to procure a new machine, with the replacement expected by the end of the week.

Efforts to address sewage issues in Block B are also progressing, as plumbers have assessed the situation and are expected to complete repairs by week’s end.

Furthermore, a damaged water tank in Block B is scheduled for replacement today, providing relief to affected residents.

The council expressed gratitude to the hall’s residents for their patience and support during the ongoing efforts.

They assured the students that with collective cooperation, more improvements can be made.

The statement was jointly signed by the Administrator General, Olaniyan Ibrahim and the hall’s Public Relations Officer, Adekanmbi Ezekiel.

Furthermore, the House Secretary of Great Independence Hall, Ejere Emmanuel, has reassured residents that repair work is actively underway to fix faulty infrastructure.

In his statement released on the 18th of October, 2024, Emmanuel confirmed that significant repair work commenced yesterday, and further improvements are in line to ensure that all concerns are addressed swiftly.

The improvements are part of a broader plan by the TEAM PRAGMATISM administration to ensure better living conditions for all students residing in the hall.
