The President of the Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan, Bayo Salaudeen, has issued a public apology and retraction of a statement made on November 29, 2024.
The initial statement blamed the society’s loss at Jaw war on its vice president, Oluwabukunmi Amoo.
He acknowledged that his initial decisions and statements were impulsive and unjustified.
Salaudeen expressed remorse for unfairly blaming Vice President Oluwabukunmi Amoo for the faculty’s defeat, recognizing that, as a leader, he should have assumed full responsibility for the loss.
“I take full responsibility that all the issues mentioned in the previous address should have been contained and handled within the Faculty of Science Literary and Debating Society,” Bayo remarked.
Bayo Salaudeen stated that the concerns raised in the initial statement have been internally addressed and resolved. He offered an apology to the Vice President Oluwabukunmi Amoo for damaging her reputation.
He also extended apologies to other affected parties, including alumni, faculty leaders, and students.
The president reaffirmed his dedication to making amends, while confirming that Amoo Oluwabukunmi will continue to serve as the society’s vice president.
