Shoge Quadri Emerges Speaker of UI’SRC 12th Assembly, Others

Shoge Quadri, a 300-level student studying Law, emerged as the Speaker of the Students’ Representative Council, University of Ibadan, on Saturday, March 8, 2024.

His emergence as the Speaker of the 12th Assembly came after pulling a total of eighty-two (82) against his opponent who had thirty-nine votes (39).

Other elected principal officers of the 12th Assembly include Ojo Felecia as the Deputy Speaker, Adedeji Praise as the Clerk and Oluwagbemisola Olubanjo as the Chief Whip.

Stating his plans for the 12th Assembly, Shoge Quadri highlighted “organisational structure repositioning for maximum productivity; chamber renovation; repair of notice board and purchase of new one; structured channel of communication; press briefing and conference; establishment of UI SRC monthly tabloid; legislative summit; picnic and parliamentary visitation.”

In an interview with IndyPress, Shoge Quadri promised the student community a vibrant Students’ Union and inclusive platforms.

“My victory is a victory for all the students of the University of Ibadan. Today’s sacred event that brought about my emergence is a testament that the students of the University of Ibadan crave for an inclusive government where their voices can be heard.”

“I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that our Union is a vibrant and inclusive platform for all students. I also want to use this opportunity to appreciate the students for their support and contribution to my emergence, and solicit their support to make the administration a successful one,” Shoge Quadri concluded.
