The prolonged presence of stagnant water along the road linking Tafawa Balewa Hall and Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall has raised concerns over potential health risks.

Observations by Indypress as of yesterday show that the flooded section of the road has remained waterlogged for about two weeks following the onset of rainfall this semester.

Despite its persistence, the situation appears to have received little attention.

The poor state of the road, coupled with a blocked drainage system, has contributed to the accumulation of stagnant water in the area, making movement difficult for students and other road users on rainy days.

Speaking with an IndyPress, a tricycle driver said the road has remained flooded for weeks due to repeated rainfall and inadequate drainage.

“The road has been like that for about two to three weeks now,” he said

Efforts to reach the Students’ Union President, Deboye Temidayo, for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.

The condition of the road poses a health threat as it is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and exposes students to waterborne diseases and other health hazards.
