The University of Ibadan has partnered with the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) as a host organisation for the second edition of the initiative following the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale.

This development was disclosed in a circular from the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships), Professor Simisola Akintola, addressed to heads of departments and deans of faculties on Friday, June 26, 2026.

“I am proud to inform you that the Vice-Chancellor has given approval of a partnership between the University of Ibadan and NJFP 2.0. In this regard, our University has been registered as a Host Organization for the placement of fellows,” the notice reads.

According to the circular, fellows will be deployed to various departments of the university and will receive a monthly stipend of ₦150,000, funded by the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor explained that the monthly stipend would only be paid upon confirmation by the host department that the fellow had satisfactorily carried out assigned responsibilities for the month.

The notice further outlined the eligibility criteria for the 2026 cohort. Applicants must be university graduates from the class of 2022 onwards, as graduates of 2021 and earlier are ineligible. It also stated that the university degree certificate is the only acceptable proof of graduation.

In addition, applicants must possess a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate and must not be older than 30 years at the time of application.

The circular further directed heads of departments to compile the names of interested postgraduate students who meet all the programme’s eligibility requirements.

“As a first tranche of application from the University of Ibadan, Heads of Departments should compile the names of postgraduate students who are interested and meet ALL the eligibility criteria. If accepted, they will be expected to serve as Research Assistants to their supervisors and Teaching Assistants in their departments.”

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor also emphasised the need for thorough vetting of applications before the submission deadline of July 5, 2026.

“Finally, kindly note that the Heads of Department are expected to thoroughly vet each application. The University of Ibadan should not be brought to disrepute through any application. Secondly, the NJFP 2.0 has the final say on the fellows that will be approved,” the notice added.

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP) 2.0 is a Federal Government initiative, supported by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed at equipping young Nigerian graduates with workplace experience, mentorship, and entrepreneurial skills.
