Indy Hall Executive to Establish Environmental Task Force to Curb Vandalism

By Diran Laolu

The Indy Hall Executive “Team Sustenance” has announced plans to establish an ‘Environmental Task Force’ in response to persistent environmental concerns and the vandalism of hall facilities.

This was disclosed by the Hall’s Administrator General, Obinelo Chisom Folorunsho, during a mid-term interview with IndyPress.

“We’ve observed that many of the newly installed louvre blades have been damaged because of improper use. That’s one reason the Executive Council recently announced plans to establish an Environmental Task Force,” he said.

Obinelo explained that the proposal would be forwarded to the Hall’s Legislative Council for consideration, debate, and approval before implementation.

“The proposal will first go through the Legislative Council because we don’t want to create an unconstitutional committee,” he added.

According to him, if approved, the task force will monitor the hall’s environment and help discourage unhealthy environmental practices.

“Once approved, the task force will monitor the hall and discourage practices such as hanging bedsheets on railings, storing heavy items on louvre blades, and keeping rooms and common areas in poor condition,” he said.

He noted that the task force would adopt a corrective approach before resorting to disciplinary measures.

“Residents will first receive warnings and guidance. If the behaviour continues, sanctions will follow. Ultimately, this is our way of preserving the infrastructure we’ve inherited,” he added.
