Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba has been appointed the 14th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, succeeding the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, whose five-year tenure ends on November 1, 2026.

The appointment was announced on Wednesday by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Chief Adebisi Akande, following the approval of the recommendation of the Joint Council-Senate Selection Board after a competitive selection process involving eight candidates.
Until his appointment, Professor Olapegba served as the University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and is a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology, University of Ibadan.
