UCH/ABH Blackout: Students Resolve to Embark on Comprehensive Protest on Tuesday

Residents of Alexander Brown Hall at the University of Ibadan have decided to resume demonstrations against prolonged power outages affecting the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria.

This resolution, among others, was reached during a town hall meeting held at the ABH quadrangle on Friday, February 8, 2025.

The meeting was attended by members of the Alexander Brown Hall Executive Council, some members of the Students’ Union Executive Council, residents of Alexander Brown Hall, and concerned students from the main campus.

Students resolved to begin online protests by Sunday to raise awareness about the worsening situation.

Additionally, a Congress of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union was proposed for Monday to discuss the issue and mobilize widespread support from the student community.

Ultimately, a physical and comprehensive protest is scheduled to commence on Tuesday.

“Commencement of online protests starting on Sunday, which marks the 100 days of the blackout. A Congress will be called on Monday by the Students’ Union through the ABH SRC or 250 signatories of students. Commencement of physical protest, which starts on Tuesday, which will then review the struggle as it progresses,” the resolutions read.
