NANS JCC Oyo to Join Advocacy Walk Over Ogbomoso Abduction

The National Association of Nigerian Students, Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC), Oyo State Axis, has announced a solidarity visit and advocacy walk in response to the abduction of students and teachers in Orire Local Government Area, Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

This was disclosed through a press release by the NANS JCC, Oyo State Axis, jointly signed by the NANS JCC Oyo Chairman, Abdulazeez Uthman Olawale, and the Secretary General, Ibrahim Oladipupo Ajuwon, on Friday, May 29, 2026.

According to the Oyo Joint Council, the kidnap incident that occurred has continue to raise serious concern among Nigerian students and the education community, as it threatens the safety of students, teachers, and the learning environment within our society.

It also condemned the abduction while reiterating its commitment to the Nigerian students across the country.

“NANS JCC Oyo State strongly condemns this unfortunate act and reiterates its commitment to protecting the interests, security, and welfare of Nigerian students at all levels.” 

It further commended the swift response to the matter by the new National President while expressing its satisfaction in seeing the President get straight to work despite being recently elected as President.

It added that the Oyo State Axis will be receiving members of the NANS National Leadership as part of the advocacy walk.

“In furtherance of this intervention, Oyo State will be receiving members of the NANS National Leadership alongside the Southwest Zonal Leadership for a solidarity visit aimed at supporting all lawful and strategic efforts toward securing the safe and immediate release of the abducted students and teachers.” 

Student bodies are also advised to remain calm and peaceful while awaiting directives from the national student body.

“We therefore urge all SUG Presidents, indigenous student associations, stakeholders, comrades, and members of the students’ community across Oyo State to remain calm, peaceful, and united while fully cooperating with the leadership and directives of NANS as the apex students’ body in Nigeria,” it added.
