Indy Press Journalist, Precious Akinmoyeje, Emerge Winner of the Fisayo Soyombo Interversity Essay Contest

Precious Timilehin Akinmoyeje, a 400-level student of Physiology, at the University of Ibadan and Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Indy Press Organisation has on Saturday, 01 April, 2023 been declared the overall winner for the 5th edition of Fisayo Soyombo Essay Contest.

The recognition and declaration of the winner of the Essay contest were featured during the 34th induction ceremony of new student journalists into the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ), which was held at Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.

Fisayo Soyombo Intervarsity Essay Contest is aimed at discovering young talented Nigerian students who are gifted in the art of writing. Now in its fifth year, the essay allows for all undergraduates across the country to participate in the contest, with cash prizes of N100,000, N150,000, and N250,000 for the third, second, and first runners respectively. 

Reacting to his ultimate victory, Precious Timilehin Akinmoyeje expressed his gratitude to the individuals who motivated him to success.

“I am grateful. It is a validation of all the years I have put into doing actual work. I am also grateful for the people I have as friends. I am grateful for the motivation, which I don’t have much of. And finally, I am grateful for my community, the Indy Press community.”

As the topmost contender, Precious Timilehin Akinmoyeje won a sum of two hundred and fifty thousand naira (#250,000) plus an internship placement.
