More than six months after concerns emerged over the delayed distribution of Independence Hall T-shirts and hoodies, the Hall Administrator General, Obinelo Folorunsho Chisom (Raphael), has assured residents that everyone who paid for the merchandise will receive it, saying distribution is “closer than residents expect.”
The assurance comes amid months of uncertainty surrounding the delayed distribution of the hall merchandise, an issue that has repeatedly generated concerns among residents.
Speaking during a mid-term interview with IndyPress, Obinelo said the Executive Council is working behind the scenes to resolve the matter but declined to disclose further details, saying he would not comment on unconfirmed allegations.
“Katangites paid for the T-shirts, and they are meant to be available. Everyone who paid for one will surely receive it. Distribution is closer than residents expect.”
He advised residents who paid for black or white T-shirts and hoodies to keep their payment receipts pending an official announcement from the Executive Council.
“There are some plans going on behind the scenes. Those who paid for hoodies, black shirts, or white shirts; everyone will receive their items.”
Obinelo explained that because the circumstances surrounding the delay have not been fully established, it would be inappropriate to comment on allegations that have not been verified.
“The T-shirt issue is still alleged, and until confirmed, it would not be professional to speak out of context,” he added.
Addressing another concern, the Administrator General clarified that residents who paid for exercise books but are yet to receive them can collect them through the Hall’s Finance Commissioner.
Although he did not provide a timeline for the distribution of the T-shirts, Obinelo said the Executive Council would communicate with residents once there is an official update.
The delayed distribution of the hall merchandise remains one of the unresolved issues inherited by the current administration and has been the subject of deliberations within the hall over the past several months.
