The Opening Ceremony is Proposed to Feature Media Houses In Nigeria For Coverage
According to the SU Vice President, the Union Week is scheduled to commence with a grand opening ceremony to formally unveil the programme and recognise the work of the Students’ Union, and the event is expected to bring together students, University stakeholders, and media representatives. NTA, AIT, and Punch Newspaper are among the media organisations listed in the proposal for visibility around the event.
Over 45,000 Students Are Targeted
According to the program proposal, the University of Ibadan Students’ Union Week is designed to cover academic, career and business, health, sports, cultural, entertainment and community-focused programmes, with a target audience of more than 45,000 students across the University community.
The Marathon Race is Named After The Outgoing UI Vice Chancellor
The Sports Festival will combine several sporting activities, beginning with the Prof. Kayode Adebowale Marathon Race.
There Exist Various Inconsistencies in the Proposed Budget
Several entries in the proposed budget contain calculations that appear inconsistent with their stated quantities and unit prices, while the document ultimately presents a N36.72 million grand total. These discrepancies raise questions that may require clarification before the budget is approved.

The Budget Is Approximately N3.58 Million Less Than the Proposal by Erstwhile SU VP Olabisi
The proposed budget is N3.58 million less than the initial Students’ Union Week budget of N40.3 million presented by former Vice President Owadayo Olabisi. The budget was subsequently reduced to ~N12.98 million before approval.
The Budget Remains Unapproved Less Than Two Days to the Event
With less than two days to the commencement of the proposed Union Week activities, the budget has yet to receive approval from the Students’ Union Council.
The Revised Budget Was Submitted Close to the Event
The revised budget was submitted by the Students’ Union Vice President shortly before the commencement of the Union Week, leaving limited time for scrutiny and consideration by the Council.
The SU Pageant Has a New Name
This year’s pageant is proposed to be known as Mr & Mrs Unibadan, an upgrade from the naming convention used in previous Students’ Union Week editions: Mr and Mrs UI.
